In modern political Science game theories have evolved in order to facilitate solutions to problems. Hence there is the prisoner's game, the prisoner's dillema, etc... There is also this Hawks vs. Doves game, which is very centric to our political problems today. "Howks" always win, while "Doves" retreat.
